An energy supplier initiated a project to enable their gas business to be in a position to grow its customer base in the future and drive the resolution of a significant settlement gap of c£10m. Engage provided project management and industry expertise to support the project, and delivered to the requirements of the Programme Board and Project Sponsor.

We have a wealth of experience managing programmes and projects in the energy and utilities market. Our experience ranges from small projects to multimillion pound programmes. This includes managing projects and programmes in multi-stakeholder and highly sensitive environments.We use structured project management techniques based on Prince2 methodology, but at the same time we tailor them to our clients’ needs as different businesses and project sizes and complexities require bespoke approaches. As well as project management capabilities we are also able to offer a wide range of project related services including planning, quality assurance, issue/risk management and change management expertise.

Trade Association - Provided programme management, project management and subject matter expertise on the Single Emergency Number (SEN) Project to deliver a single 3 digit number for customers to call should they need to contact their Network Operator about a power cut, an associated welfare related matter or a network safety issue. Programme management has included liaising with numerous stakeholders including DECC, Ofgem, Ofcom, Network Operators, and support to organisations such as the Citizens Advice Bureaux, and those representing the blind, deaf and elderly. Project management included support to the various governance groups, planning, risk and issues management and cost management. We authored the service requirements and managed the OJEU procurement of the telephony service. We also authored the application and evidence set for a 3 digit number and managed the complex regulatory process for Ofcom designation and the consumer awareness strategy which will drive the service identity and underpin the national and regional awareness campaigns. 

Central Agent - Providing hands on Project Delivery management of the Government’s Electricity Market Reform (EMR) programme for EMR Settlement Ltd (EMRS). The EMRS project is delivering the systems and processes to support both Contract for Difference (CFD) and Capacity Market (CM) schemes. 

Major Water Company - We provided programme and market readiness support in their Economic Regulation Department, in preparing for the further opening of the Water Supply Licence (WSL) market for non-domestic customers from 50 mega litres (ML) to 5 ML. Engage also undertook tasks to support the Regulatory Economics department in its response to the Water White Paper focused on the opening to competition of the relevant parts of the Water and Wastewater value chain.

Trade Association - Provided project management support and coordination to energy suppliers on a pilot project to provide rebates on the electricity bills of the most vulnerable people, working extensively with government departments to resolve issues surrounding the project. 

Major Supplier - Undertook an interim programme management role for the B2B electricity market in a recovery and process re-engineering activity.

Oil Company - Programme managed a project that developed an Information Management Strategy for a medium sized FTSE 100 Exploration and Production Oil company.

Central Agent - Provided project management, stakeholder management and subject matter advice in a breadth of areas including the BSC review of smart metering, the BSC review of the performance assurance framework and the move from a compliance based framework to a risk based framework, the Supplier of last resort arrangements and operation, and many Modification Proposals and complex operational issues. 

Major Supplier - An energy supplier initiated a project to enable their gas business to be in a position to grow its customer base in the future and drive the resolution of a significant settlement gap of c£10m. Engage provided project management and industry expertise to support the project, and delivered to the requirements of the Programme Board and Project Sponsor. The project involved detailing requirements for system changes, business policy and processes and managing the readiness plans to ensure successful delivery. Engage also delivered gas training to support key processes to develop knowledge and understanding within the business.
