It is often difficult for a client to gain complete assurance that the products that are being delivered by his contractor are of acceptable quality
Clients can only usually assess the quality of the products at the end of a programme of work. This can lead to a fraught and difficult relationship between the client and the contractor, especially where project timescales and budgets differ from that initially proposed.

It may be possible for the client to gain a degree of comfort that his requirements are being met if he is closely involved in monitoring the progress of the programme of work. This is undesirable for several reasons:

it ties up existing client resources,

the client may not possess the necessary skills to review the work

it is difficult for the client to be non biased in reviewing the causes of any project slippage - many projects experience problems as a result of project scope creep due to changes in client requirements.

Engage can provide the solution to this problem by bridging the gap between the client and the contractor. Working completely independently of the main contractor, Engage can provide an unbiased view of the 'state' of a project, or piece of work, through its complete lifecycle - from specification of requirements, through development and testing, to the decision to accept the products that have been delivered.

The extent of the assurance that is provided by Engage can be varied in accordance with the complexity of the project and the requirements of the client.

Services that Engage can provide include:

Requirements Assurance: to ensure that your requirements are understood by the contractor

Development & utilisation of Acceptance Criteria: as a basis to determine if the project deliverables should be accepted.

Assessment of the risks associated with significant work activities, including a review of the suitability of mitigating actions and contingency plans

User Representation: we will liaise with your contractors during the lifecycle of a programme of work to ensure that your requirements are taken into account. This activity is particularly valuable in a multi-client environment where a single representative can act as the interface to your contractor, bringing clarity to a potentially complex set of communication channels.

A key characteristic of the Engage approach is that it brings benefits to both the client and the contractor:

The client gains comfort that: he understands how the programme/project is progressing, has visibility of project risks, can have an independent review of project expenditure and gains independent verification that the products delivered are fit for purpose.

The contractor gains comfort that: he understands the requirements of the client, the quality of his work will be assessed without bias and in accordance with criteria that he has accepted and he is able to focus his attention on delivering the programme/project rather than demonstrating that he is meeting the client's requirements.

Of course all the above benefits have the added advantage that they greatly increase the probability of success of the project, reduce the risk of overspend due to misinterpretation of requirements and free up clients resources.
