Our Continued Commitment to the Fuel Bank Foundation

Engage Consulting has made its latest £500 donation to the Fuel Bank Foundation as part of our quarterly giving programme, reinforcing our ongoing partnership with this vital charity. As energy industry experts providing independent specialist advisory and project management services since 2000, we recognise our responsibility to support the communities that the energy sector serves.

Addressing the UK Fuel Poverty Crisis

The Fuel Bank Foundation remains the only national charity providing emergency fuel vouchers to households with prepayment gas and electricity meters who cannot afford to top up. With official Government statistics indicating that 2.73 million households in England are living in fuel poverty, the Foundation’s work is more critical than ever.

According to the Fuel Bank Foundation, the charity has now helped over 1.5 million people, with more than a quarter of a million turning to the organisation for emergency support during the winter of 2024/25. At peak demand, the charity helped more than 21,000 people in a single week, demonstrating the scale of need across our communities.

Our Commitment to Community Support

Kevin Mitchell, Head of Operations and People at Engage Consulting, commented: “Working within the UK energy sector, we are acutely aware of the pressures many households face when it comes to energy costs. The Fuel Bank Foundation provides a vital safety net for families who have fallen through every other form of support, and we are proud to continue our partnership with this essential charity.”

He continued: “Our quarterly giving programme reflects our values as a company. By rotating our support between the Fuel Bank Foundation, staff-chosen sustainable projects, and our team’s own charitable endeavours, we ensure our contributions make a meaningful difference across the causes our people care about most.”

Making a Real Difference

The Fuel Bank Foundation’s 2024 Fuel Crisis Report highlights that nearly half of those helped by the charity have children at home, with young families aged 18–35 most at risk of living in fuel crisis. Beyond providing emergency fuel vouchers, the Foundation works with over 700 referral partners to deliver practical advice and support, helping households address the underlying issues that contribute to fuel poverty.

“We’re incredibly grateful to Engage Consulting for their funding and continued support. This funding is vital in helping us deliver essential services to some of the most vulnerable people in local communities.

Sadly, we’re seeing record numbers of people being referred to us for crisis support. With six million UK households now living in fuel poverty — and those on prepayment meters facing the greatest hardship, this funding has been, and continues to be, crucial to our work.” Matt Cole, CEO of Fuel Bank Foundation

This donation forms part of Engage Consulting’s structured quarterly giving initiative, through which we allocate funds to charitable causes on a rotating basis. This approach enables us to provide consistent support to the Fuel Bank Foundation whilst also championing sustainable projects and backing our staff’s individual charitable efforts.
