Engage Consulting is pleased to announce that Lorenzo Wong, Senior Consultant at Engage Consulting and the UK’s Alternate Delegate to the International Energy Agency’s (IEA) Technology Collaboration Programme (TCP) on District Heating and Cooling, will be attending the next Executive Committee (ExCo) meeting in Ottawa, Canada from 22–26 June 2026.
The ExCo meeting brings together international delegates from across the IEA TCP to collaborate on advancing the development, deployment, and operation of heat networks globally. Through this forum, member countries share insights, best practice, and research to support the transition to low-carbon heat and to strengthen the role of heat networks within wider energy systems.
Alongside the ExCo meeting, Lorenzo will also attend the International District Energy Association’s (IDEA) 2026 Conference, taking place in Ottawa during the same week. The conference is one of the leading global events for the district energy sector, bringing together policymakers, utilities, developers, and technical experts to explore emerging trends, technologies, and investment approaches in heat networks.
Participation in both events reflects Engage Consulting’s continued commitment to working at the forefront of heat network policy, regulation, and delivery, both in the UK and internationally. As the UK moves towards a fully-fledged heat network regulatory framework and the scaling of low-carbon heat networks through zoning and the Green Heat Network Fund, international collaboration is increasingly important in informing best practice and accelerating deployment.
Through its work across the UK heat networks sector, including regulatory compliance, strategic advisory and technical due diligence, Engage Consulting supports clients in navigating a rapidly evolving policy and market landscape. Engagement with international forums such as the IEA TCP and IDEA enables the team to bring global insight and evidence into its work with UK clients.
Commenting on the upcoming participation, Lorenzo Wong said:
“The IEA TCP on District Heating and Cooling provides a valuable platform for international collaboration at a time when heat networks are playing an increasingly important role in heat decarbonisation and energy system planning around the world. I look forward to contributing to the Executive Committee discussions and to engaging with industry peers at IDEA 2026 to share perspectives and insights.”
Engage Consulting looks forward to contributing to discussions in Ottawa and to bringing back insights that can support the continued development of the UK heat network sector.
