Engage Supports the Macular Society in Memory of Colleague’s Father

At Engage Consulting, we remain committed to demonstrating meaningful Corporate Social Responsibility through actions that support communities across the UK. We are honoured to announce our recent donation to the Macular Society, a vital charity that has provided invaluable support to one of our colleagues and his family.

Supporting Those Affected by Macular Disease

The Macular Society is the UK charity dedicated to beating the fear and isolation of macular disease through world-class research and the best advice and support. Nearly 1.5 million people in the UK have macular disease, a condition that affects people of all ages.

The charity provides a comprehensive range of free services to anyone affected by central vision loss, including support groups, a confidential helpline, befriending services, counselling, and practical advice to help people maintain their independence and quality of life.

A Personal Connection

This donation holds particular significance for Craig Handford, Principal Consultant at Engage Consulting, whose father, Keith, was supported by the Macular Society throughout his diagnosis and journey with the condition.

Craig reflects: “The Macular Society was there for my dad throughout his diagnosis, helping both him and my mum adapt as his sight gradually faded. After his sudden loss, this donation from Engage is our way of giving back—so that others facing macular disease can receive the same vital support they did.”

Engage Consulting made this donation through Keith’s memorial fundraising page, which continues to raise funds for the Macular Society in his memory.

Making a Difference

The Macular Society operates more than 250 support groups around the UK, run by volunteers who often have macular disease themselves. The charity also funds research into macular conditions, working towards a future where effective treatments and ultimately a cure can be found, whilst ensuring excellence in treatment, rehabilitation and support for those living with the condition today.

Matthew Johnson, CEO of Engage Consulting, says: “We are deeply moved by Craig’s personal experience and proud to support the Macular Society in memory of his father. The work this charity does is absolutely vital, providing not just practical support but also hope and companionship to people facing significant challenges with their sight.”
