Grace is joining Engage from the Civil Service, where she built a wealth of experience in policy, regulation, and stakeholder engagement. Her last role was in the Office for Zero Emission Vehicles, where she headed UK policy for private EV charging between 2021 and 2024. In this post, she was responsible for designing and implementing national policies to improve the availability and affordability of EV charging in homes, workplaces, and fleet sites.
Grace shared her enthusiasm about her new role: “I am excited to be joining Engage and by this opportunity to work more closely on individual projects to adapt the energy and technology landscape to Net Zero. Engage has unparalleled expertise in a sector that can no longer be considered a ‘niche,’ and I am thrilled to be bringing my expertise to further its mission and the reach of its experts.
Some of Grace’s notable achievements include introducing building regulations which require all new buildings in England to have charge points installed. These changes were introduced in 2022 and led to 140,000 charge points installed per year. Moreover, she led the publication of the UK’s first-ever guidance piece for EV Fire Safety, introducing clear support for car park owners and subsequently presenting best practices to international governments. Before joining the Office for Zero Emission Vehicles, she was deployed in various government departments working on priority projects. This includes introducing legislation facilitating medical device movement under the Northern Ireland Protocol, acting on the London Court Service’s ‘Silver Command’ Covid-19 task force and coordinating numerous pieces of legislation to maintain the movement of plants and animals post-EU exit.
