Karan Shinghal Joins Engage Consulting as Consultant

Engage Consulting is delighted to announce that Karan Shinghal has joined our team as a Consultant, bringing a diverse background in climate strategy, sustainable food systems, and multi-stakeholder programme delivery across India and the UK.

Strategic Thinker with Cross-Sector Impact

Karan joins Engage following his MSc in Climate Change, Development and Policy from the Institute of Development Studies (IDS) at the University of Sussex, where he earned a distinction and one of the top grades in his cohort.

His career spans think tanks, non-profits, startups, and advisory roles, including with the Council on Energy, Environment and Water (CEEW), The Nudge/ Institute, and Alcom Carbon Markets.

While at CEEW, he co-authored research identifying a $2 billion agroforestry opportunity for the Prime Minister’s Economic Advisory Council and developed food systems projects endorsed by G20 leadership.

At The/Nudge Institute, he led a rural livelihoods and economic empowerment programme that reached over 3,500 farmers through participatory research, supported by the state government and helped build institutional partnerships for scale and delivery.

Bridging Commercial Insight and Sustainability Strategy

As co-founder and CFO of a Mumbai food and beverage venture, he secured over £100,000 in venture capital and grew profitability through strategic changes.

With Alcom Carbon Markets, he supported project development and revenue acquisition, authoring successful proposals that resulted in long-term offtake agreements and brought in core funding for the business.

He brings expertise in stakeholder engagement, data analysis, behaviour change, and impact reporting.

Strengthening Energy Transition Support

Karan brings a systems perspective and a strong instinct for connecting policy, operations, and strategy. His ability to turn complex development challenges into actionable insights will support Engage clients as they navigate regulatory and operational complexity.

With a passion for sustainability and equity, he looks forward to supporting Engage’s efforts to shape the future of energy, data, and regulation.

Looking Forward

Commenting on his appointment, Karan said: “I’m thrilled to join Engage at a time when energy systems are at the centre of climate and economic transformation. I look forward to bringing my background in multi-sector problem solving to help clients unlock value, deliver impact, and navigate complexity with confidence.”

Chris Cook, Head of Consultancy, added: “As our clients face fast evolving challenges across the energy system, Karan’s deep expertise and fresh perspective will be instrumental in expanding the value we deliver. We’re excited to have him on board.”

Karan’s appointment continues our commitment to expanding our team with specialists who understand the evolving energy landscape. His experience enables him to provide valuable insights as businesses adapt to regulatory changes and pursue Net Zero objectives.
